It’s time for another Fantasy Faceoff between Fantasy FB Pundit and I. According to the official scorer here at ThePigskinGuy.com, I’m currently undefeated in our faceoffs. Pundit will try to get in the win column by arguing Percy Harvin, as I argue for Victor Cruz. Let’s just say I don’t like his chances. Here we go with Cruz vs. Harvin…

It’s back. The most successful, talked about, entertaining column in fantasy sports over the last 12 years. Actually, it’s none of those things but The Fire Sale has returned for its 13 season and generated quite a following since I came up with the idea one day in my living room.

The Fire Sale has been featured on SI.com the last two years and you’ll be able to catch it here every Tuesday during the NFL season. That’s assuming my health doesn’t continue to get worse and I’m still alive come September. If not, you won’t have The Fire Sale but the world will be a better place, so it all evens out in the end.

The Fire Sale normally doesn’t start until August but I thought I would start bringing the pain a little early this season, so here we go with an abbreviated version. Now, on with The Fire Sale

As I deal with my health issue that will restrict the amount of posts I can do over the next couple of months, I’m trying to sprinkle in a few guest columns to keep the blog fresh. I will say that after my first week I’m already more tired than I thought I would be, so these will be a great help until I get back on my feet. Hopefully it will be sooner than later because I’m already driving my wife crazy and it hasn’t even been 10 days yet. Actually, she may kill me before my health does.

In the first of my guest columns, Kenzie MacNeil looks at someAFC training camp battles fantasy owners should keep an eye on over the next few weeks. I don’t really know how to do those lines that signal the end of me talking and the start of Kenzie’s article, so this is it:

With training camps getting ready to jump off around the league this week, it seems fitting to discuss the most important position battles to keep a close eye on.  The fantasy landscape can change pretty quickly and this is the first step toward putting months of speculation to bed.

I finish up my updated position rankings with wide receivers. After a lot of moving around my receivers are finally beginning to look like a finished product. I never thought I would be saying that back in April but there wasn’t much movement in my Top 40 for the first time since I started the rankings, which means were getting close to the finish line. Here are my Top 100 fantasy wide receivers for 2012.

In our latest edition of Fantasy Faceoff, Fantasy FB Pundit and I battle it out over Jahvid Best and James Starks. Following my resounding victory in the first Fantasy Faceoff we did, I thought I’d be a good host and give Pundit a fighting chance this time, so I let him take Best, while I argue for Starks. You know, something tells me since I’m the one who writes these introductions and has editing powers to the blog, by my crazy gorilla math I may end up undefeated in Faceoffs at the end of the summer. Just a hunch. So here is the battle of running backs being drafted on average in Round 6. Who do you prefer? Best or Starks?

I’m finishing up my updated position ranking with tight ends and receivers. I look at tight ends here and I’ll hit receivers later on in the week. Like quarterbacks and running backs, I’m starting to settle on tight ends, especially the Top 20. However, I’m still tinkering with the bottom half of my ranking as training camps approach. Here now are my Top 40 fantasy tight ends for 2012.

I wanted to let all 11 of my loyal readers know that I’m currently dealing with a health issue that is going to restrict the amount of time I can devote to the blog over the next couple of months. I was hoping to really turn up the coverage once training camps start but that simply won’t be possible now. I will still be posting though. I’ll be updating my rankings, doing more Fantasy Faceoffs with Fantasy FB Pundit, posting draft results from my leagues and things of that nature but it won’t be quite the extensive coverage I had envisioned.

I’m hoping to be back to full strength by the start of the NFL season. If for some reason I don’t make it, please remember me as a douche. I want to be the first person in recorded history that when I die I’m not talked about as the greatest human being who ever lived. I appreciate all the support the blog has received since I started it in late March. My goal for the rest of the summer is to post a few times a week, so continue to check back often. You can also follow my idiotic ramblings on Twitter @ThePigskinGuy Thanks as always for stopping by the blog.
